Ingredients

Scale

Dough

  • 1 can Pillsbury Crescent Rolls

Filling

  • 3/4 cup chopped pecans
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup light corn syrup
  • 2 Tbsp unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 tsp pure vanilla extract
  • 1 large egg

Instructions

  1. Preheat and Prepare: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a rimmed baking sheet with parchment paper and set aside to ensure easy removal and cleanup.
  2. Mix Filling Base: In a large mixing bowl, combine the granulated sugar, light corn syrup, melted unsalted butter, pure vanilla extract, and the large egg. Stir until all ingredients are well incorporated. Set aside 2 tablespoons of this mixture to use later as a glaze.
  3. Incorporate Pecans: Add the chopped pecans into the remaining sugar and syrup mixture. Stir thoroughly to evenly coat the pecans and create the pie-style filling.
  4. Assemble Rolls: Unroll the crescent dough onto the prepared baking sheet and separate it into individual triangles. Spoon approximately 2 to 3 tablespoons of the pecan filling onto the widest edge of each triangle. Carefully roll each triangle from the wide end toward the narrow tip, encasing the filling inside.
  5. Initial Bake: Place the rolled crescent dough on the baking sheet into the preheated oven. Bake for 8 minutes, which allows the dough to set and start to turn golden.
  6. Glaze and Finish Baking: Remove the rolls from the oven and brush each one generously with the reserved 2 tablespoons of sugar mixture to create a glossy glaze. Return the baking sheet to the oven and bake for an additional 5 minutes until the rolls are lightly golden brown and fully baked.
  7. Optional Garnish: Once baked, remove the rolls from the oven and, if desired, sprinkle extra chopped pecans over the tops for added texture and nutty flavor. Allow to cool slightly before serving.

Notes

  • For best results, use fresh, high-quality pecans for a crunchy texture.
  • Brush the reserved sugar mixture evenly to ensure a shiny glaze on each roll.
  • Serve these crescent rolls warm to enjoy the gooey filling and flaky crust.
  • Store leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature for up to two days.
  • These rolls can be reheated briefly in the oven to restore crispiness.
