Ingredients

Scale

Dip Ingredients

  • 1 (16-ounce) container sour cream
  • 1 (8-ounce) package cream cheese, softened
  • 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
  • ½ cup cooked and chopped chicken or beef
  • 1 green onion, chopped
  • ¼ teaspoon hot sauce
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Bread Bowl

  • 1 (16-ounce) French bread loaf

Instructions

  1. Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) to ensure even baking and a melty texture for the Mississippi Sin Dip.
  2. Mix the Ingredients: In a large mixing bowl, combine sour cream, softened cream cheese, shredded cheddar cheese, cooked chicken or beef, chopped green onion, hot sauce, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper. Stir thoroughly until well blended.
  3. Prepare the Bread Bowl: Cut a thin slice off the top of the French bread loaf and set it aside. Using a gentle sawing motion, carefully hollow out the inside of the bread, leaving about ½ inch of crust intact to create a bowl shape.
  4. Fill the Bread Bowl: Spoon the prepared dip mixture into the hollowed bread bowl. Replace the reserved top slice onto the bread loaf, then wrap the entire loaf in aluminum foil to protect the bread during baking.
  5. Bake the Dip: Place the foil-wrapped bread bowl on a baking sheet and bake in the preheated oven for 1 hour. This melds the flavors and creates a warm, gooey dip.
  6. Serve and Enjoy: Remove from oven and carefully unwrap the foil. Serve immediately with bread cubes, crackers, or tortilla chips for dipping.

Notes

  • To soften cream cheese quickly, leave it at room temperature for 30 minutes or microwave for about 15 seconds.
  • If preferred, the dip mixture can be baked in a greased casserole dish instead of a bread bowl.
  • Adjust the amount of hot sauce to control the spice level to your liking.
  • Use grilled or roasted chicken or ground/shredded beef depending on your preferred protein texture.
  • Serve immediately after baking for best creamy texture and flavor.
