Crust
- 1 package (14.3 ounces) Golden Oreo cookies
- 1/2 cup salted butter, melted
Lemon Pudding Layer
- 2 packages (3.4 ounces each) instant lemon pudding mix
- 3 ¼ cups milk
Cream Cheese Layer
- 1 block (8 ounces) cream cheese, softened
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 1 container (8 ounces) Cool Whip, thawed
Topping
- 1 container (8 ounces) Cool Whip, thawed
- Reserved 3/4 cup crushed Golden Oreos
- Crush Oreos: Using a food processor or a rolling pin inside a large ziplock bag, crush all the Golden Oreos to your desired texture, either thick or fine crumbs. Set aside 3/4 cup of the crushed Oreos to use later as topping.
- Prepare Crust: Generously grease a 9×13-inch baking dish with non-stick spray. Pour the remaining Oreo crumbs into the dish and spread them evenly. Drizzle the melted butter over the crumbs, mix gently, and press down lightly to form an even crust, being careful not to compact it too much to keep cutting easy.
- Make Lemon Pudding: In a medium bowl, whisk together both packages of instant lemon pudding mix with 3 ¼ cups of milk until well combined. Cover and refrigerate for 5 minutes to allow the pudding to thicken.
- Prepare Cream Cheese Layer: In a separate bowl, beat the softened cream cheese until smooth. Gradually blend in the powdered sugar until fully combined. Fold in one container of Cool Whip gently. Spread this cream cheese mixture evenly over the Oreo crust layer.
- Assemble Layers: Spread the thickened lemon pudding evenly over the cream cheese layer. Then carefully spread the remaining container of Cool Whip over the pudding.
- Add Topping and Chill: Sprinkle the reserved 3/4 cup crushed Oreo crumbs on top. Cover the dish and chill in the refrigerator for at least 2 hours before serving to allow flavors to meld and dessert to set. Cut into squares and enjoy your Heavenly Lemon Oreo Dessert!
Notes
- For best texture, do not compact the crust too much to ensure easy slicing.
- Ensure the Cool Whip is fully thawed before folding to achieve a smooth consistency.
- Use Golden Oreos for a lovely lemon flavor contrast; regular chocolate Oreos will change the dessert’s flavor profile.
- Can be made a day ahead and refrigerated, flavors develop nicely overnight.
- Store leftovers covered in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
