Slider Ingredients

  • 1 package Savory Butter Hawaiian Rolls (12 count)
  • 12 slices black forest ham
  • 6 slices Havarti cheese

Buttery Topping

  • 4 tbsp salted butter
  • 1 tsp Dijon mustard
  • 1/4 tsp Worcestershire sauce (optional)
  • 1/4 tsp onion powder (optional)
  • 1 tbsp poppy seeds

Instructions

  1. Prepare rolls and baking dish: Slice the entire block of Hawaiian rolls in half horizontally without separating the individual rolls. Remove the top half and set aside. Lightly grease a 9×12 inch baking pan with butter, then place the bottom half of the rolls in the pan to create the base.
  2. Add ham and cheese layers: Layer each roll in the bottom half with one slice of black forest ham. Then, place a half slice of Havarti cheese on top of each ham-covered roll to ensure even coverage and gooey melted cheese throughout.
  3. Prepare and add buttery topping: In a microwave-safe bowl, melt the salted butter by heating covered for about 30 seconds. Stir in Dijon mustard, Worcestershire sauce, onion powder, and poppy seeds to create the flavorful glaze. Carefully place the top half of the Hawaiian rolls back over the ham and cheese layer, then brush the buttery poppy seed mixture evenly over the tops of the rolls.
  4. Bake sliders: Loosely cover the baking pan with foil to prevent excessive browning. Bake in a preheated oven at 350°F (175°C) for about 15 minutes to melt the cheese and warm the sliders through. Remove the foil and bake uncovered for an additional 5 minutes or until the cheese is fully melted and the tops of the buns turn golden brown.

Notes

  • You can substitute Havarti cheese with Swiss or Gruyere if preferred.
  • Worcestershire sauce and onion powder are optional but add depth of flavor to the buttery topping.
  • Use a serrated knife for cleanly slicing the rolls horizontally without squishing them.
  • Serve warm immediately for best taste and texture.
  • These sliders can be prepared in advance, assembled, and refrigerated before baking.
