Dough & Filling
- 2 tubes crescent dough sheets
- 1 pound deli-sliced ham
- 8 cheddar cheese sticks
Butter Glaze
- ¼ cup melted butter
- 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
- ½ tablespoon Dijon mustard
- ½ tablespoon dried minced onion or onion powder
- ½ tablespoon poppy seeds
- Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Prepare a baking sheet by either greasing it lightly or lining it with parchment paper to prevent sticking.
- Prepare Dough: Roll out the crescent dough sheets and cut each sheet into 4 equal pieces, giving you a total of 8 rectangular pieces to work with.
- Assemble Sticks: Evenly distribute the deli-sliced ham among the 8 dough pieces. Place one cheddar cheese stick on top of the ham on each piece. Fold in the ends of the dough to enclose the filling fully and then roll the dough over the filling to seal the stick.
- Arrange on Baking Sheet: Place each assembled ham and cheese stick onto the prepared baking sheet, spacing them slightly apart to allow for expansion during baking.
- Prepare Butter Glaze: In a small bowl, combine the melted butter, Worcestershire sauce, Dijon mustard, dried minced onion (or onion powder), and poppy seeds. Mix well to create a flavorful glaze.
- Brush Sticks: Generously brush the butter mixture over the top of each ham and cheese stick to add flavor and help achieve a golden crust.
- Bake: Bake the sticks in the preheated oven for 12-15 minutes or until they are golden brown and cooked through.
- Serve: Remove from the oven and let cool slightly. Enjoy your hot, freshly baked Ham and Cheese Sticks immediately for best taste.
Notes
- You can substitute cheddar cheese sticks with mozzarella or pepper jack for a different flavor profile.
- Make sure to seal the dough ends well to prevent cheese from leaking during baking.
- Use parchment paper on the baking sheet for easy cleanup.
- For a spicier touch, add a pinch of cayenne pepper to the butter glaze.
- These sticks are best served fresh but can be reheated in the oven for a few minutes to regain crispiness.
