Delight in these easy-to-make Chocolate Puff Pastries featuring flaky puff pastry rolled around rich semisweet chocolate chips, baked to golden perfection and dusted with powdered sugar for a sweet finish.

Ingredients

Scale

Puff Pastry

  • 2 sheets frozen puff pastry

Chocolate Filling

  • 1 cup dark (semisweet) chocolate chips

Topping

  • 1 tablespoon powdered (icing) sugar

Instructions

  1. Thaw Puff Pastry: Remove the frozen puff pastry sheets from the freezer and let them thaw according to the manufacturer’s instructions until pliable but still cool.
  2. Preheat Oven: Set your oven to 400ºF (200ºC) and line a baking sheet with non-stick parchment paper to prevent sticking and ensure easy cleanup.
  3. Cut Pastry Sheets: Place one sheet of thawed puff pastry on a clean cutting board. Using a sharp knife or pizza cutter, slice the sheet into 6 rectangles, each approximately 3 inches by 5 inches (8 cm by 12.5 cm).
  4. Add Chocolate Chips: Evenly scatter half of the chocolate chips across the surface of the cut pastry rectangles.
  5. Roll Pastries: Starting at the short end, carefully roll up each rectangle to encase the chocolate chips inside, creating a spiral shape.
  6. Repeat Process: Repeat the cutting, adding chocolate chips, and rolling steps with the remaining puff pastry sheet and chocolate chips.
  7. Prepare for Baking: Place all rolled pastries onto the lined baking sheet with the seam side down to prevent them from unrolling during baking.
  8. Bake Pastries: Bake in the preheated oven for 20 minutes, or until the pastries are puffed, golden brown, and crispy to the touch.
  9. Cool: Once baked, transfer the pastries onto a wire rack to cool completely, allowing the chocolate to set and the pastry to crisp.
  10. Finish and Serve: Just before serving, sift the powdered sugar evenly over the top of the pastries for a beautiful and sweet finishing touch.
